Name: Althea Valentine
Nickname: Thea
Age: 23
Nationality: half American, half Japanese
Height: 5’6
Weight: 49 kg
Eyes: Dark Brown
Hair: Golden Light Brown
Appearance:
She kept her hair short all her life just because she doesn't like it to be long. She also has a fair complexion which matches her eyes and hair perfectly.
She has a great body build, having a 37-24-34 vital statistics. She maintains it from everyday training and exercise in dancing as her hobby.
Clothing: She likes wearing the clothes that are totally fashionable. She makes sure that her wardrobe is the latest trends in Italy. And no, she doesn't care about Dress codes.
Alice: Mind Reading
Her Alice says it all, but she cannot only read thoughts, but also previous thoughts--memories, so as to say.
It has limits though she is close to perfecting controlling it. For one, she cannot read thoughts not unless she touched the person. But there are instances that her Alice bursts out of her body, then that's when she can hear the thoughts of everyone around her within a kilometer range. This seldom happens though; only when she's feeling rage or fear.
Her Alice allows her to "hear" what others are thinking. In terms of reading their memory, she can see it in her mind, "animated" or "not animated" only when she close her eyes.
Personality: Thea is a very warm and considerate woman. She strived to be the best she can be. She also has this certain "maturity" where she feels responsible in everything she commits herself into. She thinks of herself as a motherly figure since her previous students started calling her "Oka-chan". She is also a perfectionist with regards to her self-discipline. She's a disciplinarian to her students, yes, but she's not that strict.
She cares deeply about the people who she comes close to, particularly, her students-to-be. She would do anything to protect them because she treasures what she has, and simply because she knows how it feels of losing someone important.
Background:
Althea grew up in a normal family. She has a twin sister named Resha and both of them are inclined in dancing. She grew up, knowing that she's a normal girl. Her Alice didn't show up until she was already in high school.
She and Resha went to the same school, and same class. Though she doesn't show it, she is greatly jealous of her sister, because she was more beautiful, smarter and more popular than her--she was practically above her in all things. She swore that she will never lose against her, and she got her chance to prove herself.
One day, they announced a school dance competition and her competitor is her sister. The theme was ballet, and she practiced a lot for it. She really put all her time, effort and energy into coming up with all the steps and perfecting the dance. On the day of the competition, she was surprised that her sister copied her whole performance and added a few steps. She didn't know what to do when it was her turn to perform, she wasn't able to move of the shock. She ended up flunking the competition, and her sister won by default. She became angry at her and she immediately went home after it.
While she was in a crowded train home, she was filled with rage, disappointment, resentment, regret and sadness. She put her heart in that contest and this is what she will get? She wanted to cry her heart out, but she just can't. She was fighting with her own emotions inside her mind.
All of a sudden, the surroundings got noisy, and noisier by the second. She looked around but no one was talking. She was hearing all sorts of stuff, about breaking up with boyfriends, stuff to do tomorrow, anxieties about a father who has cancer, a job promotion, all sorts of stuff, all sorts of voices! It was deafening, and she realized that she can hear the thoughts of all the people inside the train. She was scared, she doesn't know what to do or what's happening to her. The train stopped and she stood up, letting out a loud scream and running out the door. She didn't care if she bumped on someone.
Days had passed, she continued to hear voices, even the thoughts of her twin sister. She can't stand it and she often screams while covering her ears. Her parents were scared, and they called the mental hospital, thinking that she's gone crazy.
The next thing she knew, is that she was forced to be confined inside a white room with no one but a camera, day and night. She kept telling them that she is fine, but they wouldn't listen. She decided to just follow what the doctors tell her and stop rebelling. And she did. The result was turning fine. They let her interact with other teenagers "like" her.
At the first time she was moved at their division, she felt scared, all of them are terminal. One look and she can say..."This kid is going to die tomorrow". She met a few kids and talked to them, no one is seemed to be normal like her. One time, she touched a patient, and she began to see some scenes in her mind. It was horrible. She can hear screams as a knife was raised above her. She opened her eyes and it was gone. She began to realize that it was the kid's memory. She was scared, and she refused to talk to anyone.
One day, a doctor came and talked to her. He is kind, and warm. He has a nice smile and a gentle voice. He said that he understands her, and what she is experiencing is not an illness, it is the appearance of her Alice. She was surprised that this person also has an Alice, and that he has almost the same Alice as hers.
She opened up to him and he began to make her believe that an Alice is a wonderful gift. He began to teach her how to use and control it, and she began to love him like a father. The years passed and she was ready to get out of the hospital. When she got home, she found no one but an abandoned house. She was told that the Valentine family have moved somewhere in US and they left her in Japan 3 years ago. She began to wander around, and be a street kid. She found a way to solve her hunger problems. She danced on the streets; her instrument only a metal ring and a few soft drink caps which she made as her tambourine and depended on alms. This went on for about a month, until one day, she heard a familiar voice calling her name.
"Althea, is that you?"
She looked back and saw that it was Dr. Flowright, the only man that saw her as a human, and accepted her for who she is. He took her in that day and treated her as her child. She loved him so much and respected him as her own father.
She grew up with him and enjoyed his luxurious life. In those days, she continued her studies, while she worked as an assistant psychiatrist in her father's clinic until she finally graduated from college, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. She had developed her love of children through the experiences she had with her father's patients.
She began her teaching career in a prestigious Catholic University in Japan, St. Paul University Tokyo, where she taught elementary kids. Those days, she felt really alive. She knows what it is to really live for something now, and for the love of teaching and touching lives, she turned her back from dancing.
Dr. Flowright, at that time became a prominent figure in the field of medicine. He became known as the "Mind Healer". He used his Alice in curing patients who has psychological problems, and he trained Althea to be like him. He wished that his work will be continued by her, even if he is gone.
And he did say goodbye to her early. But not by just dying like a normal person. He was murdered. She found him in his office. Blood was scattered everywhere, and his neck was twisted backwards, his face pressed on the floor as he lay on his back, dead and motionless, with the letters "AAO", engraved on as a wound on his chest.
As time passed by, she found out what "AAO" means: Anti Alice Organization. They are the ones who killed the Mind Healer, they are the ones who killed the kind man who used his gift in helping others, they are the ones who killed her father.
She was now determined to get revenge. A name came to her mind--Alice Academy, Anti Alice Organization's number one enemy. The only way she can meet revenge on AAO is by being a teacher there, to find out more about this organization and have a chance to come close to the hands that killed her own father and at the same time, fulfilling his wish for her. She resigned from her current school heavy-heartedly and applied in the academy. Luckily, she was accepted as an "In-training" Student teacher.
