Ah, another fine day in the Academy, peaceful and quiet. In fact, ever since that was the Alice Ban, it had been like that in the Academy, even in the North Woods. To the government, that was probably best, but to the students, it was unnerving. Most had even started to think about the true intention of the government. After all, if they had the Alice Ban now, then why stay in the Academy any more? They could just leave and blend in with society, with no Alices or whatsoever to trouble anyone. As days passed, this idea slowly spread throughout the school. Though, as much as they contemplated, only one had done anything about it.
The Academy gates opened. Driving through the open gates were two black SUVs, the tinted windshield and windows preventing anyone from outside seeing who was inside the vehicle. Of course, those inside could see them. That was the whole point of having them, after all. The SUVs drove through the school, the uncanny sight certainly attracted a fair share of students, the gates closing immediately as soon as both SUVs had driven through. If any students managed to escape through the gates, they would find themselves intercepted by a couple of black SUVs and a whole lot of men-in-black.
The SUVs in the Academy soon arrived the compound itself. Turning into a stop by the entrance, the front passenger door opened and out stepped a bald man-in-black, his sunglasses hiding his eyes from plain view. Adjust the cuffs of his suit for a moment, he walked up to the staircase, approaching the Student Vice-President and the few teachers that were present.
The staff of Academy had earlier received a message that the government had a 'delivery' for them and that they were required to welcome the 'delivery boys'. Of course, they would not know what the delivery is, but they would know soon enough.

This was a surprise.
The alarm clock went out a bit earlier than usual, which pretty much shoved me in a bad mood. While doing the rounds, the teachers called for me and practically dragged me to the lounge, where they told me that there was some delivery today, and I needed to be there to welcome them. And, they were coming right now, right? I was so excited that I ran to my room, changed, and ran back. I was out of breath when I arrived. Then they told me to stay there and wait. Waiting is taking longer than I expected.
"Why am I doing this again?"
The teacher sighed. "Because you're representing the whole student body, that's why." That sucks. I muttered random things under my breath as we waited, hoping the teachers would think I'm cursing. Blegh. I can't believe we're the ones waiting. They should've just called us when they arrived so that the group could've relaxed while we waited. At least they allowed me not to wear the uniform, which makes me a bit more joyful.
I wore a black short-sleeved Armani shirt over a light gray long-sleeved shirt, while a Victorian cross necklace hung around my neck. The restrictor hid under my sleeve's wrist. I screwed the whole gloves-on idea since my alice doesn't work anyway. A black Guess miniskirt and black Diesel shoes comprised my lower clothing. I wore the outfit before, and figured I should wear it again today. It was my second - or third? - time wearing it.
Good thing I don't sweat under long-sleeves, even under the sun. Which is, by the way, really odd. Here they come, I thought grimly as the car door opened, revealing a bald man in a black attire with sunglasses. His looks seemed to be taken out of a spy action movie. And he comes up the stairs to us. Step, step, step, step, isn't he taking longer than usual?
I cleared my throat as silently as I could to hold my thoughts in.
"Welcome," I lamely greeted with a forced smile. I didn't bother listening to the other teacher's words. "We were told there was a delivery for the Academy," I continued. From the government, they told me. What now, more restrictors?

The man said nothing, but instead turned around to face the visible driver in the SUV. It was a black-haired man, his crew-cut hairstyle making him look more sleek in his suit. The bald man-in-black gave him a nod and the driver passed the message to the people inside by raising his right hand. At that, every door of the SUV opened. And with every door that opened, a man-in-black exitted the vehicle. Altogether, there was a total of ten of them, and other than the two drivers and the bald man, they all moved up to the first SUV. One of them looked inside, this one a blonde, and seemed to order someone out. And by order, they meant it literally. Having no other choice, the delivery finally stepped out of the SUV, wearing a pair of red-white sneakers and a pair of dark blue jeans. As the legs left the SUV, so did the rest of the body.
And immediately, for most, he was recognisable. It was none other than the Student President himself, Hiei Valentine. His black red-streaked hair shifted slightly as a gust of wind blew past, the young boy looking up the staircase at the bald man, and then at Xena. Well, that was indeed peculiar. Funny how his return turned out to be. The young boy wore a black T-shirt with a silver cross on the center, stretching across the entire front. Hiei looked around for a moment, his crimson hues scanning the familiar sight of the Academy buildings. As good as it was to be back home, he felt a little disappointed at the results of his escape.
At that, he started walking up the staircase. It was not that easy, though. His hands were cuffed behind his back, the two cuffs held together by a chain. As if that was not enough, his ankles were cuffed too, though this time by a longer chain. Still, it was hard to walk, the chains being extra weight for his ankles. And he was walking up the stairs too.
Upon reaching Xena and the bald man, escorted by four other men-in-black, he gave the Vice-President a nod, before turning to the bald man. Jerking his head towards his ankles, he let out a soft grunt.
"Do you mind?"
As deep and almost-expressionless as ever, his voice resounded once more in the Academy. Of course, there would still be a few questions in his head. For one, where did he go to? What did he do outside? How did he get outside? Who did he meet? What happened? And let's not forget his escorts. Why was he brought back to the Academy, when he was caught sneaking into government facilities?
The bald man grunted in return, before jerking his head towards the other four MIB. One of them then proceeded to uncuff his wrists, while the other uncuffed his ankles. As they were finally removed, Chrynos rubbed his left wrist with his right hand. And then, the bald man turned to Xena and the teachers present.
"If he is ever caught outside the Academy again, he will be sent to jail again. Fortunately for him and for you, someone had us to bring him here instead of prison."
And only Hiei knew who that someone was. At that, the student president turned to Xena as the escorts then turned back towards the SUVs. With his back to them as they entered the SUVs and drove away without another word at all, he spoke to his Vice-President.
"What have I missed?"

Baldy didn't reply. Ah, was he deaf or a mute? Oh wait, scratch the first one. He reacted by turning around to a sight I didn't bother to see over his black figure. I saw Baldy's head bob up and down, making it obvious to guess that he nodded. I heard the simultaneous opening of car doors after a second or two. Not being able to contain my curiosity, I leaned to the side to see what the bald one was seeing, including the other teachers that came with me. More people, like Agent Baldy but without missing hair, were coming out.
I feel like sniffing. I don't know why, but I just do.
I continued to watch to see a number of heads that moved to the other car. One of them took a peek, said something, before a pair of legs swung down from the vehicle. That was unexpected. Maybe this was the one was holding the real delivery? I noticed that the person's ankles were cuffed. Now what was that for? Who was this person? The third thought wasn't going to be answered unless I continue to wait for the owner of the legs covered by a pair of jeans.
A young man stepped out.
After I saw his face, I almost fainted. What was the president doing with the government people? And he was the delivery? So this was why I never saw him around; he wasn't in the Academy anymore that time. How did he even get out? Instead of fainting, a confused and surprised expression appeared on my face, thank goodness. It would've been embarrassing - funny, but definitely embarrassing - to see the 'representative of the student body' faint in front of government representatives.
The wind chose such a dramatic moment to blow, making Hiei's hair move a bit. He looked up, first at the delivery agent with us on top of the stairs, before turning his eyes straight at me. I froze, not knowing what to do, but was saved from further pondering when he shifted his gaze around the academy. "Geez," I murmured absentmindedly to myself, not knowing why I even let out a word out of my mouth, but it slightly lifted me higher from my wondering and curious self.
After taking a glance around, Hiei started up the stairs. Way longer than average. For a split-second I wondered why, before dropping my gaze to his ankles. Chains were holding the cuffs. The first reason that popped into my head was that they were afraid of what Hiei could do. Wait, if he was gone for a time before the whole ban started, did he get a restrictor, too?
I couldn't see his hands since the pair I'm pertaining to was behind him, undoubtedly cuffed as well.
Finally he was where we were, with security accompanying him. And he nodded at me. I guess that's a greeting right there. He turned to Agent Baldy's direction. "Do you mind?" He uttered, motioning to his chained ankles. The man made a sound, before motioning to his other co-workers that were accompanying Hiei. I take it that they were co-workers, might be mistaken though. They obediently removed the cuffs from Hiei's wrists and ankles.
"If he is ever caught outside the Academy again, he will be sent to jail again. Fortunately for him and for you, someone had us to bring him here instead of prison."
So he wasn't a mute, after all.
It was a second before what he said registered in my brain. Hiei got thrown in jail? How did he get caught? What was he doing to make him get caught? And how come I can't see a damned restrictor anywhere? The government 'delivery boys' left before the president turned to me and spoke. "What have I missed?" Ah yes, you see, there's a funny story behind that. There's a lot of drama in the academy the past weeks, and now I could see you're missing the black snake that's currently wrapped around my wrist right now. "Paperwork," I grumbled, remembering the piles of paper in my room.
"There's a circus in town too."

"Paperwork."
If that was it, then Hiei found himself regretting having being brought back to the Academy. Heck, the prison sounded pretty appealling now too. Though, thanks to a certain someone, he ended up going to a different kind of prison, this one being his home. Hiei let out a soft grunt, indicating his 'excitement' for what was to come once he officially announced his return. Ah, well, guess that was just the typical day of a Student President, ya?
"There's a circus in town too." "... Is that so?"
Hiei replied, finding himself turning around towards the courtyard, trying to look out as to where this circus might be. His efforts being in vain, he gave up and turned back to Xena. At that, he remembered something. His mom. He looked past Xena, looking for the one known as Ms. Thea, but found no trace of her. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Shouldn't she be here, being one of the senior teachers, after all? Perhaps she was busy with something else, as always. Not that he was complaining that she was his mother, it was just a fact. Truth be told, Hiei still found himself fortunate. At least he knew where to find to his mother and was able to talk to her. Turning back to Xena, he inquired.
"Where's my mom?"
Xena should know who he was referring too, the news of the adoption having spread throughout the school as quick as wildfire. That was just how the Academy was. You get a single piece of news and in one day, everyone in the Academy would know what it was. Then, another gust of wind blew past, but this one having a slight chill to it. And Hiei shivered slightly under the gust. No, it was not that cold, but with what he was wearing, it was indeed. I am not referring to his shirt. I am referring to the restriction device placed upon Hiei.
If he were to lift up his shirt, one would see him wearing something like a muscle shirt, hugging the muscles of his body, his shoulders and half of his upper arm. The shirt, though, was a sort of device and attached onto the chest, on top of the heart, was the snake-like restrictor that Xena wore around her wrist. It was a prototype of their new type of restrictor, one that could control even the most powerful of Alices, like Hiei's. The necklace had not been enough, as the government had learned first-hand.

"... Is that so?"
Nice to see you too, I thought sarcastically. I wasn’t feeling too good. It feels like I’ve skipped a number of meals ever since yesterday. I watched the president look around, attempting to see where the circus tent was located. It’s even outside of town, I thought to myself; it can’t be seen easily from where we are. I remember the gypsy and shuddered slightly. That woman was a scary addition to the Rainbow Vagrants, but hey, who cares? As long as she does her work fine, she stays in. Besides, she attracts attention with her...um...features.
Hiei Valentine turned back to me, before ignoring my figure and gazing behind me. I guess he’s looking for something now. Now what could that be? The one he fell in love with? Kurogane? Or maybe Cloud Tetsuya? The mention of the fox’s name brought up the words he told me when we were at Central. An embarrassing story about Hiei, but he only summarized it as, ‘pink hair suits me better’.
I would really ask Hiei now. Well, I won’t in fact, but during another time. I made a mental note to myself about this.
I watched the expression on Hiei’s face as he continued to scan the people present to welcome the delivery- I mean, him. He was puzzled, his brows creasing together to form the said expression. Okay, I figured that neither Kurogane nor Cloud would’ve been here, but I don’t think that he’d be confused at such a fact. His eyes were on me again when he asked, "Where's my mom?" For a brief moment, I was perplexed. Who? And then it hit me like bricks hard on my skull.
Duh. His mom.
I thought back, recalling the time I was in the teacher’s lounge that morning. I got a scan of the faces there since I was in a hell of a bad mood, but I didn’t see her there. Or maybe she was sitting on her desk, which could be why I didn't notice her because I was only glaring at the people standing around me. Now, I have two choices. One) I say I didn’t see her anywhere, risking the chance that Hiei might miss her in the lounge, or two) say she might be in the lounge that morning, risking the chance that she wasn’t there anyway, and Hiei traveled to be greeted by no one.
“…She might be in the staff lounge.”
I shrugged nonchalantly. I emphasized on might. He needed the exercise anyway. And besides, even if Ms. Althea wasn’t there, a teacher might point Hiei to the right direction. Might take a bit longer than expected, but at least he still sees her, and that's what matters.

"... Might?"
Hiei repeated. She was unsure? Hiei sighed softly, looking aside for a moment. He needed to talk to her, and to Xena too. Hiei turned back to Xena, then leaned forward for a moment, placing both hands on her shoulders. Don't get the wrong idea just yet. Hiei's lips neared her ears and to her, he whispered.
"Don't leave yet. We have a lot to talk about."
With that, he pulled away, his hands lifting from her shoulders. At that, he walked further up the staircase, proceeding to the teachers as he greeted them one by one. Any questions they gave about his departure, or better known as his escape, from the Academy, he would just dismiss. He was given specific instructions as to which information could be given to the Academy population and which information to keep confidential among certain people. There was a list of names now. A list of names of people he needed to see.
Once the greetings were all done, the teachers dismissed themselves back to the staffroom and at that, Hiei walked back to Xena, his red eyes looking into hers as he jerked his head towards the school compound, gesturing for her to follow him in. Of course, he would only walk as soon as she was beside him. Once they did, Hiei would inform her that they would find Ms. Thea and once the three were together in a room alone, he would start explaining to them what happened outside the Academy.
Reminiscing on the events for the past few weeks, Hiei realised that it had been pretty eventful, and that everything he had found out or seen was certainly going to change how the students of the Academy viewed the government as.

"... Might?"
A moment before he said that, I was incredibly certain that he would just give me another polite nod, turn to the direction of the room I told him I thought Ms. Althea could be in, and leave me alone for the rest of the day. Apparently, I’m running out of my luck in guessing the future. I could’ve sworn he would’ve left. Darn it. I heard him sigh. Ah, now I’m guessing his disappointed. Let’s hope I’m wrong with that.
His gaze that temporarily shifted to the side turned its attention back to me. Then he leaned forward, making me a bit nervous, placing his hands on my shoulders. His lips went near my face, and I seriously thought he was going to kiss me, but his lips dove to the side of my head, to my ear to be precise, before whispering. “Don't leave yet. We have a lot to talk about.” And he pulled away. I let myself gather my composure as he turned his attention to the teachers.
It’s not like he’d forget what happened that day, right? Or he just did, that he didn’t remember that I ‘confessed’ having feelings for him? He’s either very forgetful, or simply evil. Being evil fits his hair though. Evil student president slash heartthrob, ready to break the heart of those that confess to him; not a good title to hold, but it has a certain ring that screams villain, no?
Being forgetful, on the other hand, would be a trait none of us could’ve expected.
Right, let’s settle with ‘evil, emo heartthrob president’ as a nickname for him. Just as I finished this thought and transported my attentive self back to reality, the teachers were already leaving. Oh, did I miss something important? I pondered to myself worriedly. I sighed to myself. Not good, especially if they wanted me to make a fool out of myself. I hope they didn’t talk about anything worth mentioning more than twice in the same day.
And Hiei strode to me again, looking me straight in the eye once more before motioning to the compound with his head. I let out another soft sigh, before sauntering in a fake, grudging manner to his side. Then he told me that we’d find Ms. Althea. Ah yes, that’s the only highlight of his sentence that I took in my mind as I walked continuously beside him.

With that, the two started to make their way towards the staff lounge. Silently, they reached the top of the stairs, where Hiei would slightly quicken his pace and push the door open, proceeding inside and letting Xena follow up behind him, before closing the door behind them. Then, they would continue forward. Finding himself a bit in discomfort by the silence, he looked at Xena. Then, for a moment, he was reminded of the last time the two had met. Freedom Space. The time when Hiei had realised that another demon had been unsealed. Hiei blushed only so slightly, looking away from Xena. Keeping his gaze forward, he finally spoke, breaking the silence.
"So, how have you been?"
By then, the blush had already disappeared. Hiei had learned well how to hide his emotions, be it a delibrate or accidental one. Xena was pretty much mistaken there. He had remembered the whole thing, despite not being in control over his body that time. The female demon had made sure of it too. Yeah, he knew pretty much how Xena felt about him, but simply pretended not to know about it, to save both of them the trouble and also their pride. It had been a certainly humiliating moment and Hiei figured it would be best if neither of them spoke anything about it.
Turning his head slightly, he let his closest eye lock with Xena's, waiting for her reply. She must have been pretty busy, considering that the first word she had said to him in his return was 'paperwork'. Once more, he started to contemplate whether or not the prison was a better place then the Academy.
There was only one way to find out. While keeping his attention to Xena, his mind wandered to the North Woods, where an unknown passageway leading to the outside world was well hidden. Kurogane had learnt about it while patrolling the woods and had passed the information down to him. Too bad he was not allowed to tell anyone else.
Darn that Kurogane.

I straightened myself up as we walked, my grudging march lessening to a relaxed stroll. I watched my companion take a step ahead of me. For a quick moment I was surprised, before Hiei pushed the door open, continuing through with me behind him. The walk was turning out to be quiet and uneventful. To be described in an even blunter manner, you could say it was boring. I sighed, thinking to myself. The Valentine's voice caught my unfocused attention, turning it all to him. I turned my head, from the ground to his direction, only to see that he wasn't even looking at me.
Oh wait. Now he is.
I stared back at his gaze, wondering why he'd ask. Ah, don't tell me he cared now, or was he simply doing this for the sake of conversation? I sighed again, this time softly. A conversation it is. Though, I couldn't say I was fine, since I'm most certainly not. I can't tell him I've been skipping class either, nor could I tell him that I've been stacking up on sugar lately.
I was unsure of what to say.
This happened before in his presence. I asked him questions that I didn’t think of asking anyone else, mainly because his company made me nervous, but I don’t have any idea why. Except that you like him, a voice casually reminded in my head, annoying me. I sighed inwardly, shifting my gaze away from his, and then raising an open-palmed hand to my forehead before running it through my hair.
“I’ve been busy.” I stared at the ground in front of me as I spoke those three words, before I lifted my gaze to his face. “What were you doing outside?” I asked, referring to the outside of the academy. “You could’ve at least told me you were leaving,” I mumbled.
