It's just as her Tetsu nii-chan would always say.
"Hime, everything happens for a reason."
And now that Orika had reminded her of that truth, she forced herself to sit straight like she always does. Her head is still lowered down, tears still glittering across her eyes.
And Hiei's reason was...he didn't deserve her. What could be more vague than that? She is the one who doesn't deserve him. All she ever did was to get him in trouble anyway. First, she failed to save him from the time his alice possessed him. Second, she got too much involved with Meredith that she almost had herself side on them on purpose. Third, she was too stupid to explain that it was just a "friendly hug" she did with Rage that it got him and Rage to a deadly fight. Fourth, she was too pathetic to help herself out the AAO's hands that she still waited for Hiei to rescue them. Fifth, she was the one who forced him to come home with her because she want to see her family. There are more of them, actually--too many to even remember. All she ever gave Hiei is worry, trouble and sufferings. She is the one who doesn't deserve him, the protector of the Academy.
"Maybe that's it." Hime let out a sigh. She closed her eyes, trying to trap the forming tears inside. "I just don't deserve him. I just don't. All I ever do is get him into trouble." She continued, the feeling of helplessness coming back. She felt this way before when she was trapped into choosing between her friends and Meredith and when she killed Rage, that painful feeling of having the ability to do nothing but burden anyone.
"And maybe the reason for this to happen..." She opened her eyes. "...is for to stop burdening him. He's better off without me in his way. Right, Orika-san?" She forced a smile on her lips, but sadness could still be seen.

Orika sighed she didn't said what she just did for Hime to think of it negatively.
"Now, now Hime-senpai, you're thinking things too quickly." Orika said. "Don't get to conclusions when you don't know. He didn't told you it was because you were burden." she added.
Orika was trying to cheer Hime up but it seems it wasn't working. She scratch the back of her neck when she remembered what her grand mother once told her.
"You know Orika dear, memories are precious to people but sometimes when memories are too painful to bear it's better forgetting them than to have them kill your life slowly and painfully."
"I guess what grand mother said was true..." Orika muttered. "Hime-senpai, are your memories of him hurting you so much?" she asked. "Do you want to forget them, all of those memories you made with him?" she added.
Orika didn't want to use her Alice this way but from what Hime was saying it seems there was nothing else that could change her mind about things.

The song finally ended. Hime listened silently on her seat, looking at the untouched pastry on her plate. She let out a sigh, hearing Orika's answer to what she said. Maybe she was right. She was thinking too fast. Hime was not that logical of a girl. She follows her emotions more than the rational side of things, this is why she always ends up tied up in a difficult situation. Hiei had always been the one saving her from those too, if it wasn't one or more of her brothers. She just couldn't stand up on her own anymore--not with all the painful memories holding her down.
There was a time that she was almost doing it--after Rage's funeral, she thought she'd be able to fight for herself. She thought. In the end, Hiei was still her refuge, and not herself.
Just when she was to thank Orika for listening in her rather endless problematic life story, she heard her speak of something that caught her utmost attention.
"Hime-senpai, are your memories of him hurting you so much? Do you want to forget them, all of those memories you made with him?"
Hime's gaze focused on the cake shifted up towards Orika's. Hime's eyes grew wider and her lips parted open. She was speechless. Her last statement echoed in a loop inside her head as if time stopped upon hearing her offer, and no music of the cafeteria radio nor the noise of the Academy students entered her ears. This girl sitting before her...was offering to erase the most precious memories inside her mind.
The day the ribbon flew to the rooftop, "Masaaki-san" lifting his hand awkwardly to give her a wave in the hallway, the first kiss after the rain, her Hiei's handsome smile--they all came back to her one by one, wounding her chest each time they did. Hime felt a painful lump going up her throat. This time, she couldn't hold her tears back anymore. She couldn't take it. She couldn't go on like this. She wants to give up--QUIT! And just...bury each and every one of those memories, never to recolect them anymore.
At that, Hime lifted her hands up to wipe her tears. Once they were all gone, she gave Orika a nod and her most sincere look. In that short span of time, Mizuno Hime made a decision that would change her life. From this point on, she would start a painless existing. The only thing that she would allow to hurt her was the fact that she couldn't be together with her brothers in the time being--but that pain was just going to be temporary. The moment she gets out of the Academy, she would go on with her old life. Everything will be the way it is before.
"Yes...please."

After hearing Hime's reply Orika breathe in. She was afraid Hime would say that but she has been prepared for the worst.
"Alright then. You see my Alice is called Memory Manipulation." Orika said. "I have the power over people's memories. I can erase them. " she added.
Orika was ashamed of her Alice because it was this Alice that made her mother suffer.
"Now... I want to help you in anyway I can...Give me your hand and everything will be alright." Orika said and stretch out her hand.

Hime had already talked herself into trusting the girl earlier. All the while she had been with her, Orika had proven that she was trustworthy, so there is no need to think twice when she asked for her hand.
"Mm." Hime nodded, extending her arms to the other side of the small round table. As their hands touched, she closed her eyes, waiting for whatever she could do to make her forget everything. After all, she seemed so confident in her offer. Hime wouldn't mind being seen doing something weird with another girl in the cafeteria--after all, her image is the one thing that she doesn't give a damn about. She just hope no teacher's attention would be grabbed.
She waited for something to happen then. She was pretty psyched about it too, honestly speaking. She wasn't new in the talk of memory-loss. The girl had after all been a victim of amnesia. And now that she knows why she had it, she regretted even being eager to know her past. With that, she remembered the first thing Hiei told her when they first met.
"Maybe, it was better if you didn't know your past. I know I want to forget mine. My past still haunts me in my sleep. So, maybe, you may not like your memories. Everyone single person here in Alice Academy has a sad tale to tell. It would have been better if we forget about them. So, for the moment, consider yourself lucky and please smile again."
Hearing those words clearly inside her mind, a smile really curved on her lips. Even if it was a smile of sadness and regret, it was still genuine. That was going to be the last time she would remember anything about her love for Hiei.

Orika then used her Alice. She entered Hime's mind and there she saw Hime's memories the scenes play before her.
"And now..." Orika muttered. "Here it begins..." she added.
Orika saw the memories of Hime with Hiei being together. She touched the image of Hiei and it disappeared. She then saw the memories of the time they first met at the roof top.
"I think I'll leave it alone." Orika said. "At least have this memory for a happy one." she added.
Orika then saw the ordeal Hime had to go through, when she had to kill Rage.
"These memory should disappear." Orika said and with that the scene disappeared.
All of the painful things that has happened to Hime, Orika removed it all.
"That's about it." Orika said and was about to return when she stopped and created a memory, a fake memory. "I know it's not right but at least I'll can be near you and comfort you, when you need it." she added taking a look at the fake memory she made.
It was Hime meeting her somewhere in Central Town, with that she returned to her body. She felt weaken a little dizzy. Her Alice still manages to drain her energy but she managed to not fall unconscious.

"I wanna be with you now Futari de distance shijimete Ima nara maniau kara We can start over Hitotsu ni wa narenai Itsu no hi ka distance mo Dakishimerareru you ni nareru yo Yappari I wanna be with you"The voice of Utada Hikaru lulled her into still lethargy. Hime felt nothing; not the spray of air-conditioner on her skin, nor the comfort of the cushioned chair. The only thing perceived by her sense was the song playing in the cafeteria radio. All the while, she was conscious of what she had let Orika do to her, but as the clocked ticked, she was starting to forget, until she recalls nothing anymore. And as the process came to an end, Hime snapped back to reality. She felt the gravity now pulling her down the ground. She chilling cold air brushed through her flawless shoulders. She suddenly felt hunger, thirst, and her vision being heavy. Everything was becoming light and...bearable. ~o0o~ Blinking several times to refresh her vision, Hime saw Orika lean back her seat, looking like she was really exhausted and drained. Anxiety then filled her that there was something wrong with her best friend. Out of worry, she stood up from her seat and rushed to the other side of the table. " Orika-chan? Daijoubu?" She shook her gently, her voice from being low and lifeless, had regained back its melodious tune. Hime felt something inside her was taken away--there was something she forgot. Well, she knew about her amnesia some years ago before Tetsu nii-chan adopted her, but the thing she lost was not it. It was something far more important than that...but what is it? Saa. She couldn't care less that moment. What is important for her now...is her best friend's health.

"Hai, just a little tired, don't worry I'll be fine." Orika said trying to act normal. "About your depression, I think your just being lonely lately. Perhaps a little friend to go with you all the time that would help you. So how about we go to Central Town and..." she added thinking. "I'll buy you a pet." she added trying her best to smile.
Now that Hime has forgotten, Orika changes the topic. Though she feels guilty at least she has lessened the burden of Hime's heart. Now all she could do was to make her happy until her Alice has worn off it's effect on Hime's memories.
