At first glance the city of Greyhawk is a wonderful sight to behold. Towering white walls surround it and merchants yelling their prices in the streets. People are constantly on the move, moving from one stall to another talking to friends and acquaintances alike. Just the sheer amount of people talking required one to talk loud to be heard. This was truly a city. Our adventures walked in to town fairly unhindered in awe of the amazing place. Things would not stay peaceful for long though for them in the city of Greyhawk however. They began to move apart until the Druid and the bard where the only ones next to each other. It was here that the trouble started. It would seem that the Druid had a problem with stealing from people and began to pickpocket random people until finally one of the victims noticed what was going on. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view the Druid was able to use his charm and wit to pin the crime on the bard. The victim who happened to be the Capitan of the guard grabbed him and dragged him to the local jail and the Druid left him to his fate.
Moving through the city one more the Druid is reunited with the est of his comrades in the poor side of town next to a run down looking bar called the Feisty Midget. It was a rowdy place full of bad ale and women of easy virtue which for some of our adventurers was just fine. Taking a deep breath they slowly entered the feisty midget.
The feisty midget was just as loud and rambunctious as one would think. The beer flowed freely and drunks were dancing on the table to a variety of music that all added to the "feel" of the place. It was obviously not an upscale place yet it had a nice feeling to it. Most of our hero's took to the place right away drinking freely and talking to the lovely ladies that were serving food or possibly themselves. In a city this large almost anything had a price after all. But to the wizard he noticed something was missing. Yes their was lots of music but none of it came from a bard they knew. Yes thats right the Bard wasn't there. Luckily the Wizard was able to extract the information from the Druid who didn't care knowing that the Bard would be unable to bail himself out seeing as he had pick pocketed him before he was arrested. The Wizard however did have the gold to do so and when he went to the jail he was able to free his comrade who was slightly worse for the wear. They however made it back to the Feisty Midget and rented some rooms to start fresh in a new city in the morning.
Finding work was not hard it seemed as there had been some strange things going on in the country side. Many peasants had started to go missing and their mangled corpses had been found half eaten and ripped open later. The strangest thing however was nothing was ever stolen or changed just the people killed. The only trace was strange footprints of an unknown creature. Our hero's quickly took to the task and set out to the surrounding farms where the last attack had happened. When the examined the area it seemed to be deserted until they heard something from the inside. A bookcase was knocked over but the cause was nowhere to be seen. Slowly opening the door the barbarian entered with a caution one would not expect but he had gained from years of living in unknown territory. However his Caution was not enough as he was struck from behind by an unknown creature.
The creature itself had no eyes and seemed slightly insect like with it's hard armor but possessed a a tail and claws as well as a powerful set of jaws. One of the most horrifying thing was that on one of its arms it had a long thin sword like appendage. Blue veins could be seen going up it and it was obvious that this was part of the creature. Compared to our hero's this was an unstoppable beast it was stronger and faster, this was on top of the fact that it could inject you with a poison that would weaken any foe with it's tail. This thing was certainly no creation of mother nature and was surely spawned from the depths of the underworld. It was only with sheer numbers that our hero's were able to overcome such a foe as for the most part ever non magical attack they used bounced harmlessly off of it's armored body and only the strongest attacks could pierce it's flesh. They were however able to bring it down by a twist of fate. The creature struck at the barbarian who was able to dodge it so the creature's sword like arm became stuck in a dresser and when trying to pull free the dresser fell crushing the beast. Our hero's were victorious even if it wasn't the most heroic of means and took their trophy to town with news of how they destroyed the evil beast with their valor and not with a dresser. They however were not crowned as hero's and were only handed a sack of gold in compensation.
They however were off to a good start in what would hopefully be their long careers in adventuring and would soon be well on their way to become hero's of legend....
