He slowly dropped his hands as the girl took them off from her shoulders. Takuto looked away embarrassed, as he noticed how much of a fool he's becoming in front of her. She seems to be helpful; avoiding eye contact seemed to be better. Looking into her deep stare was already hard enough yet it calms him. He took a step back, allowing space to come between them, then gritted his teeth.
"I—"
He was interrupted by her response. The tone of her voice was utterly emotionless and calm — there was no fear at all. Would all of these meant nothing to her? The girl was simply confusing him with her thoughts. He wanted to know what she would be thinking. But in a way, he was thankful that he didn't know. It must have been hard for her to hear such absurd things from him — maybe not.
He smiled at her question and nodded slowly. "Yes," he muttered, looking at the window. The rain has indeed stopped but it still remained dark. A miracle, as simple as that. The rain; it wasn't bad at all, once thought of. This time, the clear skies would only mean something — something he wouldn't know.
"However, I do know it would hurt for a while. But if I see you happy without me, I'll never regret—"
He abruptly stopped, he looked at her and took a step forward again, and covering the space he had given her. Then he pulled her close, wrapping his arms tightly around her. He wouldn't cry this time. Instead, he sank his face into her hair, inhaling her scent. It smelled nice like from the time they first met.
"....not seeing you. I wanted to see you badly for these past few days and yet I see you, this time, in such condition. I feel bad for myself for not appreciating the time whenever I'm with you. I'm sorry."
He sighed and looked at the window. This moment was something he was thankful for. Maybe, he will regret leaving her. Nevertheless, he knew that he can never have her. If he was that greedy, he could have — a long time ago.
"Your concern has given me the happiness that I didn't deserve.."
Then he gently pushed her away, not bothering to look at her. He smiled then walked to the door silently; only footsteps could be heard. Seeing her already satisfied him and he knew he was being selfish — not bothering to listen to her. He let out a sigh as he turned the doorknob, silently opening the wooden door.
"Thank you"

...
He began to spoke, and still she remained her posture. Still her feelings are questionable. But then, he abruptly stopped from his words. Curious, she wanted to turn around, why. But it's too late, his grasp had reached her, and his head was now on hers. It really did pierced through her heart, making unwanted tears to flow out. Surprised and confused, her feelings slowly show something.
He wanted...to...? It was unbelievable, though it really didn’t show in his face. Now that she heard, no, listened to all of them, her next step is still unknown. Her hands clenched into fists at her side, trembling and opened them again. She started to lift them slowly and as if she had second thoughts if she should. But, he began to make distance between them.
Didn't have the chance to hold on those manly arms, she instead pressed her two soft hands on her chest. And she lifted her right hand to cover her closed mouth. An expression that shows the feeling of being…touched by his words and how important for them to be listened. Inside her, all became warm as if the room became much smaller than ever. Now so confused on what to do, I want to... Don't...please... I haven't told you…!
The words are just stuck in her throat, unable to choke them out. Too scared..? Or, too frightened to make a mistake. But which one is right? No one knows, mayhap it's up to her heart now. Just one more...!
"Wai-!"
Quickly she turned around, still tears in her eyes. But at least, she's not anymore too late, he's still there, just too close to too late. No worries. Except that, her call wasn't that loud. But more importantly, if whether she should response, or just stay it hidden. I wouldn’t want to miss this chance…
"Don't...!"

He was nearly prepared; he needed to be. He knew this would happen to him especially when it comes to someone he cares about. The girl was someone more than he would care for; she was special, more than she's supposed to be. This made him think twice about his decision. But he always end up to the same one. However, he could watch her from afar, making sure that she's safe.
There was something he noticed from her eyes, tears. He didn't expect that from her. Seeing the tears from her delicate eyes made him wonder. Why is she crying? There was no reason for her tears — he was just leaving her as an acquaintance. He didn't deserve her sympathy...her tears were only making him regret about his absurd decision. The door was already open yet he can't make himself pass the wooden frame. Once again, he gritted his teeth.
"You make it harder for me to leave you if you're like this"
Clutching the doorknob, he gently closed the door. He can't believe he just did that. However, he didn't want to leave her crying like that. He'll just regret this afterwards. He was actually flattered and overwhelmed when she cried. He didn't think that she does care for him. But seeing those tears now, he only felt guilty.
He turned around, still gritting his teeth. Takuto walked to her and stopped right in front of her. He used his left hand to cup her right cheek, tilting it upward, and his left index finger to brush the warm tears from her cheek. She remained beautiful even when she cried. It only made him sigh.
"What is it?", he whispered. The tone of his voice was soft and low and restrained for some reason.

He stayed...
But...
Am I that...?
At the very least, he decided to listen. Tears stopped flowing as soon as she called. But there are still wet stuffs on her eyes. But he...smoothly rubbed them off her soft face. She couldn't help but to fix her gaze onto his pair of ever-dull eyes. The only thing she'll do now is to say it. But it's really nerve-wracking to do so, especially the upcoming consequences that could happen. And that is what she wishes to be removed. But a pint of readiness is is visible in her, whatever happens she'll accept it wholeheartedly even if it would make such a distress.
But nonetheless of the apprehension she hides, she needs this, there's no more other time than this to do what she is supposed to do. I should better... Smile, she did, but the type that shows...
"If you've been wondering, why...I cried," she looked down so that it would be easier to tell her story, "It was a matter of joy, mixed with a little bit of surprise there.", she chuckled. Just to show how she really feels she took his left hand, the one he used to shed away her tears. She held it with both her own fragile hands and pressed it near her lips.
"I really didn't have much idea how much I...affected you. How I'd cause you such eagerness and happiness. It really confuses me, thinking if I'm that important to someone...like you. But..."
Her fingers caressed his hard hand, holding it tightly and pressing it more against her lips. And a teardrop was made visible.
"...now, you are the only one who I can trust. Even though you acted so cold to me and not being honest sometimes, I'd better reside them and should think that you are not always like that."
A little pause resounded around the room. This was one of her rare moments to be so open like that. But it's a need. Slowly about to lose grip of his hand, a smile of mere embarrassment resembled on her face.
"You must think I'm pretty much of an idiot, huh...?" But that's how I truly feel.

He looked at her, surprised, for what she has done. He had the urge to pull his hand away from her but he can't find the energy to do it. He can't hurt her. He simply let it stay near her lips, her soft breath caressing his skin. It was hard to bear; it hurts him every time he looked at her -- especially in this way. But he still continued to look at her.
"Thank you..."
Hearing those words from her only encouraged the demon inside him not to leave her. Sadly, it's nearly winning. He'll definitely regret doing this -- staying for her sake. However, he wanted to be there for her, to protect her. But he knew he’d only hurt himself. He sighed in surrender and used his free hand to pat her head.
"You are an idiot...for believing in me and for following me. I did expected you to do that but I didn't think you would. Thank you, really"
He simply let out a low chuckle as he removed his hand from her hair, leaving it in a disarray. He looked away, only to see the view from the window. The rain hasn't continued and it only made him wonder. Then he turned his attention to her, once again, using his other hand to brush her soft cheek with his fingertips.
"I, too, am an idiot...for loving you and making you like this," he muttered to himself while smiling, hoping that she didn't hear what he had said.

It seems so...distorted. Everything's spinning.
Or is it just the heat adjusting between them? Most probably of her imperfect eye sight is the reason. I want to stay...just a little longer. Though she actually haven't said the whole part of her reasoning. But her head and body couldn't take it any longer. Though she really forgot her current sensation. Because not only her vision is the cause of it, but the lack of slumber she have this day, even though it's a weekend. Perhaps, she's too sunk into schoolworks because she doesn't have anything much to do here now that she's imprisoned. It's been weeks since her arrival and still not getting used to the environment.
Upon hearing his reply to her idiotic question, she didn't understand much though it's more like a murmur, considering she can't focus on it due to her current statue. So she let his hand go and pressed her two hands on her temples. And she began to rub it again.
"Actually, I'm still halfway of my speech..."
She laughed softly. The heat she produces on her head didn't work much. It would be tiring to talk again. And it's too difficult to try again. Her voice changed into something that sounds like disgust, but not pure disgust.
"...Uh, listen. I really want to stay longer, to say the rest. But I think I should...head back..."
It's very difficult to speak for her. The dizziness she's now experiencing. She decided to walk towards the table and grab her homework. Seeing the apple just makes her want to finish it because it would be a waste. But she decided to leave it alone. Her walk becomes more wobbly as she moves more. Now that she's near to him again. She just put a nervous smile on her pale face.
"I'm really...sorry. But...don't worry, I...can still walk, ok...?"
It wasn't that convincing but she really tried. It sounded more into a whisper as she talks more. I want to...rest. Yet she really wanted to say the rest of it, but not in this current feeling she's having. And in reality, she's sick of walking, hoping just a few steps there would be an open bed to lie on.

As he continued to study her facial features, also trying to cherish the moment, he noticed that her skin color had become paler than before. Her soft breath, as he remembered, seemed to be warm -- too warm. Something was not right. Was the girl sick now? Before this, she doesn't seem to be. Is this all his fault then?
He only made her situation worse because of this. He didn't even mind to think about her current situation. How vile of him to think of himself before her. He looked down in embarrassment, letting his hands stay at his side, clenched into a fist. It was also awful of him to say those words in front of her -- it would only make her think more when she's not supposed to.
"It's..not your fault. I should be the one to say sorry."
Noticing how she walks made him loathe himself even more. The girl he cares about is like this yet he doesn't even notice it. She didn't even hesitate to smile at him. It was hard to look at her like this. But he can't just do nothing. As a sigh escaped from his lips, he scooped her up. Takuto carried her in his arms, 'bride-style'.
If she’s going to walk any further, there’s no doubt that she’s going to collapse on the way. The young man walked to the door, gently turning the metal knob as he reached it and opened the wooden door. As he took a step out from the wooden frame, he looked at her and asked, "Can you still talk? If you can, help me locate your room...if you can't, I'll just--"
Just...what?
Where would she place her then? Infirmary, perhaps? It's seems to be too far. Her room would probably be the best solution for her case. She seems to be tired, sick and needs rest. Was she this fragile? Why doesn't she seem to be? He headed to the girls' dormitory, hoping that it would be that easy to locate her room -- but considering that more than a thousand students stay here, it's going to be hard.

The walls aren't straight anymore. All of them seemed to dance like the waves of an angry ocean. She couldn't bear to stand anymore, and the worse part is to hold those homeworks. It was evident that in a minute or two, she would faint. But a sudden lift was felt. Now that she's in a lying position, it was hard for her to open her eyes, since she started sweating as she began walking just for a few meters. Just close your eyes... resounded her conscience. But she needed to let the boy know where she dwells, not the unneeded Infirmary. She tried hard to raise her head to know where she is now, and then her sleepy eyes scanned the whole area, then began to lower her head abruptly. Turning her head to his side, a short pause began and tried to speak. "Just head straight and make it to the far left corner...you will see a door with a different type of doorknob...it's quite easy to know, it's the only round doorknob there...don't worry...for the keys...I left it...un...locked." Her voice broke on the last few words. Close your eyes...and everything will turn out fine... once again it resounded. But this time she followed that order since she's in need to shut them. But still she trembled to lift her left arm up, holding on to his clothes closing her weak fingers tightly. "Hurry..." It didn't matter for her to be anxious though the sound of it didn’t seem to be, the thing she only needs now is to sleep on a comfy bed in her own room. No more disturbances, just the dream or nightmare she would have later. Just sleep…trust him.

He smiled, filled with sadness and guilt. Then lowered his head to kiss the top of her forehead.
"I will, my hime"
Well, it (the kiss) wouldn't do anything to her right now especially that she's in that condition. Obviously, he only did that to satisfy himself. Once again, it proves how loathsome he is. If only that kiss could make her situation better; which seems to be impossible. Anyway, it seems that this isn't the time to think about that. Think more about her, he reminded himself.
As the girl had instructed, he followed her every word; moving straight then turning left. He expected that a lot of women would think of him as suspicious, considering that he's carrying a semi-conscious girl. Who would know what he would do to a girl like her -- only by judging his appearance? A suspicious-looking guy like him wouldn't do such things. All the things they thought about him didn't offend him nor affected him since he's already used to such things.
Well, she was right. Her room was easy to locate because of different handle. He sighed in relief then hurriedly walked to the said room. Then he gently turned the round doorknob. The door was indeed unlocked, just as she said. He shouldn't be surprised though, since she just informed him about that.
Her room looked like a typical girl's room, as expected. However, it was left unorganized. He slowly walked in the room, making no noise except for the sound of his footsteps, as he headed to the bed (which was also messy). He gently placed the girl on the bed, then placed the blanket over her body. Finally, she's able to have her rest. Once again, he sighed in relief.
He took the misplaced chair from the study table and placed it next to the bed. The young man sat on it as he examined the girl. Well, he'll remain in her room until her temperature has lowered.
Due to impatience, he stood up and walked to the cabinet then opened it to take a face towel. Holding it, he walked to the room's comfort room. He opened the faucet then washed the face towel. As he walked to her, he folded the face towel in half. Finally, he placed the folded towel on her forehead. This should help her, at least.
There's nothing I could do now, he sighed.
He took another look in her room then his eyes settled on the pictures on the cabinet. Those little things got his attention. He made his way to the cabinet and reached those pictures. Those were photos of a family and a young man about their age. He literally envied her because of her family. He wanted someone who would care for him like a parent would do. However, due to his alice and personality, no one would dare to step up and love him. He understands that though since he seldom trusts other people.
This picture of a young man. Who was he -- or who was he to her? He can't help but to have this feeling of jealousy. However, he should forget that since he's going to leave her after this is done. He can't turn back on his decision now. Was this for the best?

A damp and warm feeling on her forehead made her waken up. But actually, she was half-awake ever since she closed her eyes. From darkness, she slightly opened her eyes now realizing she's lying on her bed and now looking up to her dorm's ceiling. With her eyes still not opened entirely, she glanced around the room and it is really her room. As usual, it's a complete mayhem, this and that scatted around. But the only thing different is a manly figure, someone she's familiar with. Huh...? Why is he in my room?! Her hand on her forehead, she just realized that she's sick. and that man that mysteriously came into her room carried her inside. Embarrassment, she felt that he saw her lair, but thankful that he really did that...for her. She glanced back to him, he's near the cabinet of hers and found him scanning her photos...family photos. The chair beside her bed, she noticed. Was he here for long...? Waiting...? Ugh... She couldn't think anymore, it would just make the pain even worse. But it was much more inevitable to think that he's looking at the picture of her friend...a very close one. And that friend's a boy... All of a sudden, she sat up. "Takuto!"
It doesn't sound like a loud scream though, more on something to catch his attention with the tone of stopping of what he's doing. The warm towel rolled down to her lap and noticed it. Because of the sudden jolt she did, her head just got worse. Ow. To her surprise, why did she even called him? "You could just leave, you know...Just a tiny rest and I'll be ok!" Then displayed an unsure smile. it's just a little fever. Enough sleep and healthy food could heal it...right? But surely sitting up isn't one of the factors of curing her, instead one of the factors to make it ache more. She lied down just like a worker that just got home from a long day. Letting her hair cover her face and the blanket uncovering her upper body, she just cared for her head to be on the soft pillow. While staring blankly to the ceiling with her hands on her stomach, her eyes seemed dead. I just don't want you to worry that much. And yet... she yearned for his company. But she wanted to be a bit more selfless. Or that's what she think is the right thing to do...

She, calling his name, definitely got his attention. To his surprise, the photos fell on the floor. He sighed as he picked them up. She shouldn't be that surprised that he's there. After all, she's the one who told him where her room is located but in a way, he should have left after he did that. Was the man in the photo that special to her? Enough to make her sit up and stop him? Damn jealousy, it shouldn't have existed.
He turned to her, face straight -- he's trying to. Then walked to her and gently brushed her bangs off her face as he placed his right palm on her forehead. She remained to be warm. More or less, she's still sick. Well, she's right. After some rests, she'll be fine, clear as day, as if that fever never existed.
He slowly dropped his hand as he sat down on the chair placed next to her bed.
"Are you sure?"
The tone of his voice seemed to be in pain but the expression on his face remained to be emotionless, but he didn't mean that to happen nor did he want her to hear that question in that way. How embarrassing, he thought to himself. After all, if he leaves, he can never see her again.
But
It would be now or never. If he chooses not to leave her, he'd pay for it. As he said earlier, she would be endangered. Why did he have these second thoughts? He...would only leave her, right? It was simple to do but why was it hard to keep his word? It was hard for him to imagine leaving her alone, avoiding her, and not seeing her.

Oh, no. Now what would he think of him ? He's just... Nervous, she was that he now saw her family and her close friend through the pictures. Despite all that, she remained emotionless with her eyes closed and hands on her stomach. She shook her head to not think of any more silliness. She stayed lying there, the cool breeze gently touching her bare upper body. But at the very least she's feeling better...a bit. Then footsteps were heard and it gets louder and louder as he draws near. He sat and brushed smoothly the bangs off her forehead. Now that he felt it, she replaced the towel on her forehead but it's quite useless now that it's not anymore warm. 'Are you sure?' was what he said. Mayhap she just feels better that he stopped viewing the photos. Why did I got sick in a wrong place...in a wrong time? And still she won't let him get worried sick. It pains her to think like that. Being a burden, that is. She brought the blanket up to her body and slightly turned to his direction preventing for the object on her forehead to fall over. So with her child-like smile she responded, "I'm sure I'll be really fine! Promise." It would be better if he leaves rather than having him here in her room impatiently waiting for her to be better. But it would be much better if she had taken good care of her body, none of these would have happen. And none of her thoughts would come into her head especially the part that she thought of him having a wrong idea about his close friend...But why is that?

"Okay then"
He smiled at her as he nodded then patted her head. Somehow, the look in his eyes still has a hint of pain. If only he was not that attached to the girl, then he'd still be as emotionless as ever. What ever happened to the skill of covering all of his emotions? All of it...gone because of the girl. What the heck was happening to him!? Actually, he found himself relieved to find the girl okay -- for now.
There's nothing he could do now. He stood up then walked to the door. As he grabbed the round handle, he muttered loud enough for the girl to hear,
"C-Could you tell me who that young man...in the picture is?"
Before hearing the girl's answer, he shook his head instead; telling the girl not to mind his irrelevant question. It's all about his jealousy anyway, she shouldn't really mind that. He let out a small chuckle then silently said a simple 'good-bye' to her. It wasn't as tensed as earlier. Hopefully, she wouldn't think about it too much. After all, they're just acquaintances. Even if that young man would be her special someone, he couldn't do anything at all.
He slowly opened the wooden door and walked pass through the frame. As he closed the door, he looked at her -- the last one he'll ever get. He sighed and smiled as he walked away. Until now, the women still looked at him suspiciously as if he had done something bad to one of the students here. As he spotted a staircase, he sat on the uppermost part of the stairs, making sure that he would be no nuisance to the people who would come by.
It's all over, eh?

Patting on the head, that's what she usually gets when she cries over something when she was little. Then there's something about that made her reminisce the days, 'Don't you frown, lil sis!' a familiar voice echoed inside her head. The voice she last heard from him is the same tone she hears right now. But I'm not frowning... she replied to her imaginary brother. Teasingly, Eh…?Well, I shouldn't be surprised that I know you more than you yourself. And that woke her from her ever wonderland, and she really is frowning. She now just stared at him, taking every step away from her. Not only that, she was studying him. His sudden halt didn't bewilder her but his muttering did...just a bit. Then what could be her answer? Just a friend...well, it could be. But it wouldn't sound that convincing. Then suddenly he chuckled, thinking how embarrassing he just asked that, maybe? Then, next a goodbye, and that just puzzled her. Though his tone didn't much concerned her, but his actions did. But you know... it resounded again, now in a quieter tone. Well, she ignored to react to that voice. She needed to know something. He then twisted the knob and opened the door. He went out, and for a few seconds he turned his face to her...looking at her. Like a lightning striking in her lost mind, she discerned something from his face. It made her opened her eyes fully forgetting her illness and removed the once-warm-and-now-cool towel out of her face. Now that he closed the door, she pushed herself up slowly, still staring at the closed door. Now for a while, she just stayed sitting up again, thinking He didn't...!. But her head didn't hurt her that much now. Should I go after him...? She questioned, but she can't wait any longer for the right timing. She pulled out the blanket fast and walked quickly. Those little actions did made her pant. And upon opening the door, he vanished. Looking around, the girls are observing her while she opened the door. Oh! There's still some people, mostly women obviously, that are outside. She closed the door in moderate speed and peeked for the last time. He really left. Now that it's closed, she turned her back against the door and lay there, still grasping the knob. Expressionless --- ever since ---, she stared at the window. Moonlight shone luminously. "Don't you say something..." She muttered. Irritation can be heard from the tone, but also concern. She placed her hand on her face, noticing she's still quite sick, but for some reason it lightened up. But knowing his 'goodbye' didn't really help much, it just made her worried even more. If only she knew it sooner and if only he could hear her... "...like you don't really mean it." '...when you know someone, even for not so long, you somehow instantly understand that person... Ha! Wow, I envy you for that.'
