Meredith's Attack! (Rage and Open)

[Meredith]

The orange light of sunset spread across the grounds of the Alice Academy, covering everything in a firey glow. Meredith Jane Prescott stood atop a rather large hill, overlooking the North Woods and in direct line with the mountains beyond the campus grounds. The sun was a sinking slowly behind the mountain range and time told her the one she waited for would arrive soon.

Meredith was dressed in a simple, light green skirt. Her top was plain white and covered with a form fitting grey blazer, embroidered with white floral designs. It was not her best clothes, but they reminded her of her boyfriend, Rage. It was he whom she waited for atop the hill where he had once given her the small bracelet wrapped about her wrist. She played with it for a while, waiting patiently for her knight to arrive, a small weight in her stomach.

"Hmm?"

I was walking up to the hill once again, where I had tricked my beloved to get the truth. I felt an incredible amount of guilt as I walked through the grass towards the top of the hill. It was sunset, everything seemed as though it was repeating itself, the only difference was that Meredith was the one who had inviting me. I sighed, as I slowly saw the Sun, as though it was rising above the hill. I saw Meredith there, and smiled a little. But why had she even called me here today? Was it as random as when I had called her to give her the really damned expensive bracelet?

Meredith turned on her heel, hearing the approach of someone. As her eyes adjusted to light, sure enough, her vision showed Rage Asakura. She smiled brightly, a skill she had gained since the day she'd met him. She rose her arm, the one which held the beautiful bracelet, and waved to him. The sinking feeling weighing heavily on her.

It's necessary, it's necessary, Meredith reeated to herself. At least we aren't fighting. Meredith reached a hand into her skirt pocket and fiddled with something. The twins had given her a present and now she wanted to give it to Rage, but it would wait. Until the perfect moment. She wanted everything to be perfect for Rage. Behind her on the hill waited a blanket and a basket, filled with food. It was a picnic dinner. "Good evening, Mr. Asakura," she called warmly.

"Good evening to you too, Ms. Prescott, how are you feeling?"

I chuckled a little, hoping I got the difference between Ms and Mr correct. Ms meant they weren't maried right? Well hopefully, or I'd be so messed up. I walked forward, nearer to the red-headed girl. My eyes scanned her up and down, noticing two things. One was the picnic basket behind her, yay, and another was that she was playing with something in her pocket. Hmm? Interestingness. No wait thats not a word.

[Meredith]

"Much better actually," she giggled lightly, not something she was used to doing. "And the proper title is Miss," she playfully chided. She stepped gently to meet him. She took him by the hand and brought him close, gesturing to the basket and blanket.

"Surprise! I made us dinner." Like many nobles, Meredith claimed she had made the dinner, when in fact it came from the quaint cafe in Central Town where the Triad frequently met. However, she didn't feel the need to inform Rage of this, it was simply enough for him to enjoy the food. "I hope you're hungry!" She said rather too enthusiastically.

"Wow!"

I let Meredith's slender fingers wrap around my slightly larger hand and lead me to the area of the picnic. I could smell the aroma drifting from the small opening in the basket into his nose. I let myself slip from Meredith's grip as the smell of the food slowly drew me closer.

[Meredith]

Meredith let Rage's hand slip away as he closed in on the waiting food. Two plates were alread set up with cutlery and napkins. Two chilled glasses sat upon the red and white checkered blanket. Everything was set for a romantic evening alone. That didn't mean they couldn't expect the occasional passerby who might, for some strange reason, but out and about instead of in heading for the dining hall.

Meredith walked gracefully toward the open picnic basket and withdrew a container of pasta. She served both plates the steaming fetuccine. It was among the few foreign foods she enjoyed. Hopefully Rage would appreciate it as well. Next she picked out two rolls from the basket. Finally came the pouring of pomegranate juice. It wasn't often served with pasta, but the special alfredo sauce she had ordered would be best served with the rare juice. She was already kneeling, looking up at Rage with a happy yet expectant smile. "Care to join me?"

[Asakura]

"Yeah..."

I could not help but stare in awe as Meredith laid out an array of food on the picnic blanket. Everything was classy! I looked down at Meredith, seeing the happiness on her face just gave me more guilt to deal with. The sky remained its orange-red colour, and I slowly sat down.

"You look... beautiful."

It was true, under this light......

[Meredith]

Meredith felt a slight blush rise to her cheecks. She had been taught to take compliments in strides, but then those were fake compliments. This was a real one. "Thank you. You look quite striking yourself." Meredith returned. When Rage had finally settled, she handed him one of the pairs of plates and placed a glass beside him. She smiled and motioned for him to start. It wouldn't be proper for the lady to begin a meal, herself being the hostess.

"Arigatou..."

I said, like, really warmly. I recieved the plate with both hands and took a fork from somewhere nearby. Taking some of the fettucine, I put the delicious-smelling food in my mouth and chewed, mouth closed, of course. My eyes widened with delight as I savoured the taste of the pasta. Ahem, OMG DELICIOUS! xD

[Meredith]

After finishing a forkfull of the pasta herself, Meredith asked, "What does that word mean? Ari...gatou? It's Japanese correct?" She folded a napkin and wiped the corners of her mouth before taking a sip from the glass of juice.

[Asakura]

"Whoops... Arigatou means Thank You in Japanese."

I chuckled a little, amused that I had used Japanese on someone who did not know the language. I did not use Japanese often, but this time I used it, on someone... who didn't know. I'm repeating myself... I put down the plate and picked up a napkin, doing something similiar to Meredith's actions. I just dabbed at the mouth, until I was sure it was clean, before picking up the sparkly juice and sipping it.

"Interesting taste..."

[Meredith]

Meredith smiled. "It's meant to compliment the pasta's particularly spiced sauce." She gestured toward the brigh specks of green in the alfredo before mentally sighing. She'd never been left alone with Rage for so long before. What was she supposed to do on a date? Other than serve food and talk about mindless chatter. She hoped the others were having more luck with their missions they she was.

"So....how have classes been?"

"Hrrm... not bad... I guess... you?"

I looked up from the delightful plate of food to glance at Meredith's face. She seemed a little odd today, of course this was like a date and I also did not know what to do on such an occasion. I just looked at her with a little hint of confusion in my eyes, before setting down the plate and wiping my mouth again.

Meredith could feel the stagnation in the air. Her wonderfully planned picnic dinner was going to come crashing around her ears if she didn't do something to levitate the pervading silence. It was then that she remembered her gift. Anna had given it to her, as her sort of blessing upon Meredith and Rage.

The red-headed girl slipped a hand into her pocket, clasping around the small piece of jewlery. When she pulled her hand out from her skirt pocket, her hand was closed.

"I've...umm...got something for you." She wasn't sure how Rage would react if he knew the present had come from the Windkeep twins, so she opted to omit that little fact.

[Asakura]

"Ne?"

I smiled as I watched Meredith put her hand into her pocket, playing with something that was obviously in there. She pulled her hand out and it was closed, wondering what was inside, I looked at the closed hand as if it was a un-openable treasure chest and I was trying to see what was inside.

[Meredith]

Meredith smiled serenly and playfully batted at Rage's arm. He sincerely looked interested in her gift and that only added to the elation of the moment.

"Now, close your eyes. I just know you'll be surprised."

[Asakura]

Rage closed his eyes. Awaiting the present thing. Curiosity took over his body and all he did was grin...

Meredith smiled slightly more as Rage's grin grabbed hold of his mouth. She had a strange desire to kiss him then, but not sure of how an actual kiss goes, she decided against it. Instead she opened her hand.

Laying neatly on her palm was an exact duplicate of the bracelet she wore around her own wrist. It was the same size with the same colors. Curiously, the colors were reversed. Anna had explained that the employment of a reversed color scheme symbolized the male and female in a relationship, as opposed to the simpler "same color, on pair" scheme used in today's youth. Meredith merely nodded in faux understanding and accepted the gift. Unsure why Anna and Quartermain were suddenly very keen to accept Rage, Meredith questioned the twins' motives openly.

"We simply thought he would appreciate such a fine, custom made gift from the one he loves." Quartermain had said. At the time Meredith couldn't understand what the Windkeeps were hinting at, but she took it regardless of her apprehension.

Meredith nervously, yet with a smile still on her face, leaned into the expectant Rage, the bracelet humming in her hand. She picked it up and brought it closer to Rage's wrist. Using her free hand, she took both ends and made to tie it around her boyfriend's wrist. Unexpectedly, the bracelet jumped out of Meredith's hands and wrapped around Rage's wrist, it's ends clasping together.

Unknown to both Meredith and Rage, the bracelet had the same effect Rage's present had had. It would latch on to it's DNA-specified victim and cause them to answer any question asked, only wipe their mind clean when the interrogation was over.
